Here's the plan....arriving Dulbin 11/03. Picking up car at 10:00 a.m. Driving to Kilkenny via the Wicklow Mountains area.
Two nights in Kilkenny...doing Cashel from there.
On to either Killarney or Kenmare for 3 nights (leaning toward Kenmare)
Dingle for 3 nights
Galway for 3 nights
Dropping off car at airport and then staying in Dublin for the last 2 nights.
We want to do Newgrange also, should we take away a night at either Dingle or Galway (which one??) and spend a night in the area around Newgrange? We kind of wanted to save a little money by dropping of the car 2 days earlier and just kicking about in Dublin. Dont really want to take away the little time there to take a bus trip up to Newgrange. Any hints or suggestions about the whole plan would be GREATLY appreciated Thanks Scott
In November there will not be much going on in Dingle. I think two days there will be sufficient. It takes about half a day to see Newgrange and everything there. Good idea to stay nearby and then go to Dublin.
I would also say that two days is sufficient for Dingle, as you are going in November. I would probably also stay in Killarney over Kenmare at that time of year, as there will be more activity. Kenmare becomes quite a sleepy little town in the late fall and winter months.
As to Newgrange, I would recommend Logher Farm B&B. I had a chance to take a tour of this delightful B&B in 2006. I was truly impressed by their hospitality and the tea they provided. The rooms were well set-up. Though not large, they were of a comfortable size. The proximity to NewGrange is excellent. I am looking forward to booking a room next May.
I think we will stay 2 nights in Dingle and spend one night around Newgrange instead. Bit, your b&b suggestion looks really good, if we stay there I'll let you know how it went.
We were thinking the same way about Kenmare vs Killarney. We liked the smaller town atmosphere of Kenmare, but just sounds like a little too small for our time of year....since we will have quite a few nighttime hours to fill. We'll probably stay in Killarney then.
