The Irish Vote

Vote for UsHey All,

The Irish Fireside Podcast has been nominated for a People's Choice Podcast Award. This is a pretty big deal considering only the top ten travel podcasts (out of thousands) made the cut.

It would be an honor to have your vote. Just visit www.podcastawards.com and place a tick by Irish Fireside in the Travel category.

While you're there, you can also show your Irish pride by voting for the Irish and Celtic Music Podcast in the Peoples Choice and Best Podsafe Music categories.

Thank you all so much! And, you might also want to stop by the Irish Fireside and listen to the latest episodes. We've had some nice interviews...including a Belleek Irish China expert who has appeared on the UK Antiques Roadshow. Oh, and a new e-newsletter goes out by next week, so be sure you're signed up for that too...so much to share, so little time :)

Thanks for your vote,
Corey

youngka,

A podcast is like a recorded radio show on the computer that you can listen to when you want. (That is my best explanation - Corey, correct me if I'm wrong.) Go to www.irishfireside.com and click on "Podcast" then choose the one you want to listen to. You may have to download a media player to hear it. The download time can take a few minutes so be patient. And have your speakers on. I always enjoy Liam's songs at the end of the show.

Good job Michele.

The other detail of a podcast, is that it is "subscribable" via iTunes or other software and can be downloaded to an MP3 player, but that part can get a little technical, so stick to Michele's advice and you should be off to a good start.

If you use an MP3 player, like an iPod, then it might be worth learning how to subscribe to podcasts...they'll automatically be downloaded to your computer.

Other Irish-interest podcasts you might want to check out (there are loads more too):
http://www.celticmusicpodcast.com/

http://newstalk.ie/newstalk/podcasts.html
http://www.liveireland.com/features.shtml
http://www.rte.ie/radio1/playback/
http://www.shadowmagic.co.uk/
Each site is set up a little differently, so just snoop around for the play button.
