It's that time of year again, and the Irish Fireside is again compiling a list of our favorite Irish and Celtic gift ideas for our Holiday Gift Guide. If you have some items you think we should consider, send me an email at corey@irishfireside.com.
Items must:
Connect to Irish, Celtic or Irish-American interests
Have an online presence (website, online store or featured webpage)
Be received by Nov 8, 2008
This year's guide is already shaping up to be our best guide yet...all thanks to the many submissions from folks like you, so thank you in advance for sharing.
Guess what, several products "for your review" have been mailed to Liam and me for the Holiday Gift Guide (and our first request for suggestions only went out on Monday).
Everyone is invited to sign up, but we'd prefer the giveaways go to people with a keen interest in Ireland, Irish travel and Celtic products (so please don't send email announcement to EVERYONE in your addressbook...just to your favorite Ireland-loving friends and family).
Drawing will likely be in early December, and we'll be posting a list of prizes in a week or two. I'll keep you posted.
Michele, my plan is that by giving it all away, it'll be my duty NOT to eat any chocolate! Oh the temptation.
Judy, you're on to something. To many entries and our chances of keeping anything for ourselves goes waaaay down... Um, uh, everyone else, sorry, uh, the giveaway isn't so great, you probably shouldn't waste the time
Thanks Anchoress. We're thrilled to include your book. I believe Judy/Dude has been our angel and is making arrangements for it to arrive. I'll be sure to check in with her.
No sign of chocolates yet...and, honest, I'm not hoarding them ;)
We've got smoked Irish salmon though...it's not chocolate, but it's tasty.
In fact, the list is now long enough for us to giveaway an item every day in December! Never thought we'd get that much nice, free stuff. View the list at http://irishfireside.wordpress.com/free-stuff/ ...It just keeps growing.
This is getting more and more exciting. I wasn't quite sure how you got the items, I must have not read closely enough, but the two listed above sure make one want to WIN! Thanks for doing this Corey! Youngka

Mother Abbess has asked that we send the book and booties direct from us, so as Michele has kindly given your address we will send them direct.
Maybe even today if the storm lets up.
This has the added fillip that the book will be signed:)
Dude, bless her kind heart, lnows this now.
PS all chocolates MUST be sampled here in Ireland:) I am happy to oblige:)

I'm game for doing a sampling tour...anyone know a sponsor who would send me on a jaunt to bring the finest Irish yummies to the masses? I'd be happy to make that my mission :)
Wish we could send you some of our gourmet jams, but they would not travel well so this is personal shoppers only
We offer this week at least 12 different kinds of marmalade, including Irish Whiskey.
As well as around 15 other kinds, many with Irish fruit..
And chutney of course...
If you are ever in Donegal...
Blessings always.

Good morning, all. I've just tried signing up for the email newsletter and to put my name on the list to enter the daily drawing. Each process said I must reply to the email sent to me (the one that asks me to confirm my request). But I haven't received those confirming emails yet. So is there another way I can sign up?
Hmmm. The sign up is trying to make sure you are who you say you are. Double check your trash or spam folders and see if your email put them there. You can also email me directly at corey@irishfireside.com to make sure you're on the list. We haven't had any trouble with sign up before...however, our e-newsletters get put in spam more often than we would like.
And Liam could win a piece of Irish shard jewelry ;)
I was going to do the...draw out of a hat technique, but since newbies are signing up each day...I instead go to random.com and have it pick a number between X and Y. Then I just look for who has that number next to their name in the database. It's not quite as satisfying as pulling out a slip of paper, but it also means I don't have to cut up all those slips.
I swear, if there was money in doing this drawing, I'd be hiring an assistant to coordinate this thing. Just the emails and thank yous alone are taking up a chunk of time every day...and now shipping. But, I must confess, there is some great satisfaction in playing Santa Claus...and many of the vendors have turned out to be really interesting people. Celtic harpist Anne Roos is a charming lady and is very supportive all kinds of Irish interests www.celticharpmusic.com...same goes for Sharman Armstrong from www.customsilhouettes.com ... and CindyHelgasonfrom www.soapourri.com - she's even created a custom Irish Fireside soap made with McCann's Irish Oatmeal! Oh my, the list could go on and on.
Now that there is a buzz around the drawing, we're getting more people wanting to contribute. Maybe this things will run right through St Patrick's Day :)
And I am spending my days standing by the mailbox waiting for my prize to arrive....good thing it's not that cold in south Texas! If I get the angels I will give one to Liam and one to Corey!
OMIGOSH! Michele, I dropped in here before doing my at-least-once-a-day check of the Fireside to see who won, and you got to give me the good news! What a lovely gift, too. Thanks for the heads-up!
