Salthill recommendation

After some advice from some of you, we have decided to stay in Salthill rather than right in Galway for our stay in April (3 nights here).  I like a little more peaceful atmosphere than the city.  However, I'm looking for recommendations for a B&B in Salthill that is WALKING DISTANCE from the action in Galway.  It would be nice to stroll into town for a few pints and conversation without dealing with the headache of driving/parking/etc.

thanks,
Shawn

Several places in Salthill are within walking distance of the city, and if you don't like to walk, what I liked was most are right on a bus route that will pick you up right in front of your B&B sometimes and get you there quickly.

Roncalli House is quite nice and an easy stroll to the city center.  Might want to check it out.

I agree with your approach.  As much as I like Galway, finding parking there is just impossible at times.  More relaxing to leave the car at the place you are staying and not battle that at all.

I enjoyed my stay at the Four Winds Lodge in Salthill. It was about a ten minute stroll to city centre. The room was comfy and the breakfast delicious.

Another suggestion is St Martin's Guesthouse, which is in one of Galway's neighborhood areas. They have ample guest parking. They are well situated to reaching the pedestrian areas of city centre and her pubs. The phone No. for St Martins is 00 353 91 568286 and their email is stmartins@gmail.com.

Hey Bit:

Is the Four Winds near the Spinnaker Hotel?  I might have stayed there years ago.  Can't recall the name.

Thanks.

Shawn,

I would recommend Lawndale and Margaret Walsh: http://tinyurl.com/a8t5az It is a comfortable and clean B&B overlooking Galway Bay. I have walked to Galway from there many times. Perhaps 15 minutes stroll. Maybe you walk faster than me.
