Family Trip in May

We are planning a family trip in May to celebrate our 25th aniversary.  There will be 9 people, one child age 4 and the rest range from 19 to 56.  We are flying into and out of Dublin May 15 and 25.  We have rented a house outside Ennis for Sat to Sat and plan to spend Sat and Sun (23 and 24) in Dublin.
From Ennis we are planning day trips to the Ring of Kerry, Cliffs of Moher, Bunratty Castle, and Ring of Kerry. We will be renting two cars
1. is this doable--is there anything in this area we should include
2. are there any pubs in the area that we can take a young child for lunch or early dinner
3. any horse back riding in this area

thanks in advance for any help

Brenda,

Congratulations on your 25th anniversary! It sounds like a fun trip you are planning with your family.

Ennis is a great market town and there are plenty of different pubs you can take a young child to for lunch. The pub in the Old Ground Hotel is especially cozy.

The Ring of Kerry would be a stretch from Ennis. If you did it you would have to get a very early start. Out the door of your house by 8 am sharp. You probably won't be back till evening.

There are tons of things to do and see in the area. Some of my favorites:

Loop Head
The Burren
Cliffs of Moher
Aillwee Cave & Falconry
Craggaunowen Project
Bunratty Castle & Folk Park
Hunt Museum (Limerick)
Kilmallock
Foynes Flying Boat Museum
Quin Abbey
Coole Park
Kilmacduagh

That is just off the top of my head.

Horseback riding: http://www.clareequestrian.com/

Go into the tourist office in Ennis and they will help you decide on others. Or you can get my book for other suggestions. Hope you have a great time.

Brenda, my husband and I are celebrating our 25th anniversary in Ireland in April!  Small world, isn't it?!? biggrin

Michelle's forum (and her book) have been my bible for planning our trip.  You can't go wrong on this site -- and you'll meet the nicest people here, too.  In fact, I check in just to keep up with what folk are talking about!
