Kilkenny, Kinsale, Kenmare, Dingle and Doolin and Westport accomodations - trying to decide

I have looked into number of different places in the above mentioned cities.  We are on a fairly tight budget and do not want to spend more than 40 euros per person per night (and would like to spend a little less)  Most of the following fall into that category - would appreciate any comments

Kilkenny - Abbeylodge this is appealing because it is close to city center - has anyone personal experience here?  Dunromin looks nice and website says 10 minute walk - very positive comments on tripadvisor.com  Also Laragh House.  Too much to decide!

Kinsale - I have written both Rivermount and Landfall House.  Also checked into The Olde Bakery -

Kenmare I noted that Virginias Guesthouse got great reviews on other sites - haven't seen much about it here.  Also got rates from Driftwood   It looks to me like we may need to exceed 40 euros a night here.  Any other recommendations in Kenmare or close by towns  I have not had a lot of luck finding inexpensive lodging here

Dingle Have gotten quotes from Heaton's Guesthouse which looks very nice.  Also am interested in Pax House, Emlagh Lodge - have not heard back from them yet, Greenmount, and the Shores Country House. Coill An Rois also looks interesting  These all look good - is location of Shores Country House as good as others

Doolin (or nearby town) we will only be there one night or possibly two.  It would be nice to stay someplace near music that isn't on a busy street    Any suggestions welcome

Westport - Have pretty much decided on Cillcoman Lodge B&B Hopefully not a lot of road noise here?  Any other suggestions welcome

Thank you so much - I am getting very excited

Pam

Last Spring in Westport we stayed at http://www.boulevard-guesthouse.com/  Great spot in a very central but quiet location. Have a great trip.

Another suggestion. A few years ago we stayed in Kilkenny at http://www.butlercourt.com/index.html Again it is steps from downtown and the castle but very quiet. Does not serve a full Irish breakfast. Like the Boulevard in Westport, Butler Court has an exceptional proprietor. Check for off-season rates.

Emlagh lodge is my favorite place in the world. Check trip advisor. You will not be disappointed.

Heaton's in Dingle is wonderful, more of a guest house than a bed and breakfast. We stayed there for 4 nights last September, and even though the nightly rate was more than a lot of other places, we felt it was well worth it. Our room was large and light, and beautifully furnished, great shower. There was easy parking for guests and the hosts are lovely people. Breakfasts were magnificent. Heaton's is an easy, flat stroll into town.
In Doolin, O'Connor's Farmhouse is a basic but quiet and clean place to stay, we paid 35euro pp per night. Good breakfasts, and it's an easy walk to Fitzpatrick's, McGann's and McDermott's pubs for meals and music.

Pam,

You have received some good feedback from Meredith, Shawn and Stewart.

Kilkenny: I have no personal experience at Abbey Lodge. Dunromin didn't quite make my list. Lovely hosts but the B&B could use some updates. Laragh House is very nice but the host is not  the "hands on" type. It is on a busy street so if you stay there ask for a room in the back. Have you looked at Alcantra or Auburndale? Bit (CowboyCraic) recommends Lawcus Farm but it might be more than you want to pay. Have you looked at Days Hotel? They have a room only rate from 49.50 euro (that's total for 2) or 58.50 per room including breakfast. That is hard to beat.

Kinsale: Rivermount is fabulous, however it is a few miles from town. It is in an extremely quiet area overlooking the river. Landfall is much closer to town. You can walk to Kinsale but going back you will have to walk up a hill. Kinsale is very hilly.

Kenmare: I have heard good things about Virginias and tried to inspect it with no success yet. Driftwood is very nice. Take a look at Whispering Pines. The hosts there are super nice. However, it is an older B&B that has been redone. The upstairs rooms are tiny and the bathrooms are miniscule. There is a larger room and bath downstairs. That would be the one to book.

Dingle: Heatons is probably too expensive for you. Emlagh Lodge is very nice as is Tower View. Coill an Rois is in the country and several miles from Dingle town. Jimmy is a real sweetheart. The Shores is wonderful but is on the north side of the peninsula, definitely not near Dingle town. However it is so nice to have the windows open at night and hear the ocean in the distance. Really serene.

Doolin: Try O'Connor's. It is quiet but in a good location.

Westport: Cillcoman Lodge is in a very quiet area.
