Would appreciate any recommendations for above - we will not be spending any time in Dublin or Northern Ireland. I really enjoy looking at local arts and bringing something home that will always remind me of my travels. I am an avid knitter and would enjoy finding some Irish made yarns
I think you would benefit greatly from Pat Preston's "Ireland Shopping & Crafts Guide." The new 2009 edition is now available (it should be appearing on her site very soon). She includes many yarn shops and many of the best hand-crafted items throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Thanks for the recommendation of my new book. With my writing of yet another book at the moment, I have not yet had the opportunity to put up full info on the new book on my web site. However, on my home page, I have a picture of the new book and if anyone clicks the book image or the link under it, they will go straight to the publisher (Xlibris) web site and can order from them until I get my site updated. The book is also available on Amazon.com and other online sellers.
If preferred, people can use this URL to go straight to the Xlibris page and the book, and, yes, the book is full of wool and knitting shops, as well as almost 300 other types of shops including URLs when appropriate. http://www2.xlibris.com/bookstore/bookdisplay.asp?bookid=57221
Thank you very much, Corey, for recommending the book, and thank you, Michele, for making it possible to talk about it here. Happy St. Patrick's Day to all! PAT
Pat's book sounds like exactly what you need. Thanks for thinking of it Corey! We are still waiting in anticipation to see what Pat's new book will be.
