We will be staying in the Adare Manor Villas June 23-June 28. We just ordered Ireland Dream Trip so we haven't received it just yet. I had read on your site about the Castle Dinners and came across the following Internet special offer and wondered if it was a good deal and which combination would be the best? You have to purchase by March 31st.

If you have your heart set on one particular evening entertainment, book soon. Of course, the 31st is almost here anyway.
We intended to attend the Traditional Irish Night on Saturday the 27th but they are all booked for that day so we took the 26th instead. Which caused a domino effect in our plans but I think it will all work out even better now.
We booked the Traditional Irish Night and a day at the Castle and Folk Park. Craggaunowen was tempting and we probably will be able to get out there for a time anyway. Granny gets the Old Age Pensioner Discount at a lot of venues, and the boys should get student discounts, also known as concessions.
Welcome to my forum. We had a discussion previously on the forum about that special offer. Dude found out that you have to book it by March 31.
I would choose Bunratty Banquet or Irish Night and a visit to Bunratty Castle & Folk Park. If you cannot handle stairs or if you are traveling with children, let me know as my advice would be slightly different.
Thanks for the quick responses. How many stairs are we talking about? I will be 7 months pregnant and we have a 3 year old as well. We will also be traveling with 4 other adult family members.
Bunratty Castle has lots of tiny, time-worn spiral stone steps to go up. I recommend Irish Night instead. If you are set on a castle then try Knappogue as it is on the ground floor.
After discussing it with the others traveling with us, I think we are going to skip the evening dinner and just hit a castle and the Bunratty folk park during the day. Some of the family didn't love the menu selections.
We don't plan to drive a great distance while we are there but want to see atleast one really good castle. We are also planning to try to see a lot of the scenic sites and country side. The Cliffs of Moher sound great. I've read some about the Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry. If we were to try to see some of that in a day what route should we take and what should we see?
Unfortunately, because there are 6 adults and 1 child we will be seeing Ireland in a mini-bus.
I've seen a couple of things about wildlife preserves and read about the friendly dolphin, Fungie. Would either one of these things be good to see with our 3 year old?
We will be staying at the Adare Manor villas and like fresh seafood. Do you have recommendations for good seafood at a good price in that area?
Glad my book arrived. I hope it helps with your trip.
Bunratty is a really good castle. I think your family will enjoy it. Just use caution on the stairs if you take them.
Adare Manor villas are lovely. I had a tour of them last spring. You are in for a treat! I self-catered for a week in Adare at thatched Gate Lodge Cottage right in town. I think it is one of the most photographed cottages in Ireland. You will see it when you are there. It is directly across the street from the Dunraven Arms Hotel on the end of the row of cottages near the gate to Adare Manor.
Most of the restaurants in Adare are on the pricey side for dinner. We found ourselves eating at Pat Collin's Bar several times and enjoyed the food and good service. The food at the golf club at Adare Manor was good. Some of the restaurants have early bird menus, so check on them. If you are near Bunratty for dinner I highly recommend the Red Door. Very good seafood there. If you are near the Cliffs of Moher try Hyland's Burren Bar in Ballyvaughan. The Old Bakehouse in Bruff is excellent.
What sort of things interest your daughter? I find that most three-year-olds are happy enough if they just have a place to run around and let off steam. There is certainly plenty of room on the Adare Manor estate for that and a beautiful garden. Will you have access to the leisure center and swimming pool at the manor?
Besides seeing the Dingle dolphin there are other dolphin watch cruises that go from Kilrush. You can catch the Shannon Ferry across the river to get there. You can also take a cruise to the Cliffs of Moher. In Killarney you might take a horse-drawn jaunting car ride through the national park. Or visit Kennedy's Pet Farm or Moher Hill Farm. Ballybunion has some beautiful beaches and a cliff walk. In Tralee there is an Aqua Dome.
Go into the tourist office in Adare and they will give you other options.
You are so right. My daughter does have a lot of energy and will very much enjoy running around. She also gets very excited about seeing wildlife so I believe she will enjoy seeing dolphins or any other animals that we come across.
As far as the Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry...What can we realistically see in a day and what would be the best route to take from Adare?
We will have access to all of the facilities at Adare Manor.
My dad mentioned something about a Mac's Fish and Chips. I think he said it was kind of a fast food joint. Do you know anything about it?
Thanks for all of your insight and the restaurant suggestions.
There are plenty of "chippers" in Ireland. Off hand I don't recall a Mac's. Do you know what town it is in?
I really don't think I would do the ROK from Adare with a young child. It is such a long drive for a day trip. Dingle is pretty long but since the peninsula is smaller it is more doable. Some places I would recommend:
Cashel & Cahir Foynes Flying Boat Museum (interactive place where kids can fly planes) Kilmallock (cute historic little town with some good ruined abbeys) Cliffs of Moher Loop Head Coast of Clare (take the ferry for a shortcut) Bunratty Castle & Folk Park
Thank you so much. That is exactly what I wanted to know. On the Adare website they recommended doing the ROK in two days. Since I knew we wouldn't be doing that I wondered if we should try seeing any of it at all.
I don't know about Mac's. I'll have to ask my dad (he's the one that mentioned it to me) and let you know. He said something about their website promoting "proper chips" instead of fries.
The ferry to the coast of Clare sounds nice. We'll have to try that.
After seeing this thread I happened to stumble upon the web site for Shannon Heritage and they have extended this offer!!!!
I'm trying to book this and they ask you to fax your credit card information. I'm doing something wrong, because the fax won't go through.
**AFTER LOOKING AT "Tips & Tricks", I was able to get the fax to go through-thanks anyway!

It is good to hear that the offer has been extended. I'm glad you found out how to phone Ireland on my Tips & Tricks page. Which event are you attending?
That is what I originally thought too, but my dad specifically said they had fish and "proper chips" and I didn't see anything about that on the Supermacs site.
I'll have to find out exactly what website he visited.
AND your book arrived in the mail today! Can't wait to get my nose in that
Just saw that you had a question for me. We had tried to book the Traditional Irish Night but it is unavailable the night we wanted due to a private event I believe, so we went with the Bunratty Medieval Feast. I think it will be a fun way to enjoy our last night in Ireland!
We're doing pretty good on our (non-green blur) itinerary too Here's an update!
2 nights Doolin
2 nights Killarney
4 nights we are keeping open and letting the wind take us! (possibly add days in Killarney and/or split our time in Kenmare)
