Ireland from east to west in 13 days!!

Hello,

My boyfriend and I are going to Ireland August 2010. One problem! I want to see things on the East and West coast! And we only have 13 days to see it all. I was planning on flying into Dublin and out of Shannon.

I was thinking of making 5 stops all together. Here is a rough plan..

1. Dublin- 3 nights. From here see enniskerry and wicklow (nat park), jameson distillery, Guiness Brewery. Any good irish pubs with trad music??

2. Kilkenny- 2 nights  (blarney castle?) Kytelers inn.

3.Killarney- 2 nights Killarney Nat park, ring of kerry

4 Doolin- 2 nights (ballybunion?(SP?) beach.. (depending on weather at time) Gus oconners pub?

5. Galaway-3 nights (cliffs of moher)

Am I Crazy?? Can anyone suggest a better route to take to see my must sees? Or anything that is a must see that I am missing here along my way!

Here are my must sees so far.. Still doing my research!

*blarney castle

*Ring of kerry

*Cliffs of moher

*Guiness Brewery, Jameson Distillery

*Hill of tara

*killary nat park

*Wicklow nat park

*Good pubs with trad irish music!

*love to see some great landscapes and more castles (any suggestions?)

*walking tours would be great as well

Thanks !

Tara,

Good idea to fly into Dublin and out of Shannon. That way you can fit in your east and west sightseeing. I think your itinerary looks pretty good. However, I would only spend one night in Doolin and add that day to Killarney. That way you could day trip to Dingle as well.

I suggest seeing Blarney Castle on the way from Kilkenny to Killarney.

If you have an early flight from Shannon I suggest staying closer to the airport than Galway. Bunratty is always a good place for your last night and only 10 to 15 minutes from the airport.

There are lots of walking tours available from Dublin and the tourist board there can advise you of them. Also go to my Discounts page to download Corey's free walking tour of Kilkenny.
