Where to stay our last night in Dublin

Greetings! We're just days away from our first trip to Ireland. I would love recommendations for a place to stay our last day before flying out of Dublin. We will be returning our rental car the afternoon before (at the Dan Dooley depot offsite), and hopefully taking their shuttle to Dublin airport.

I thought we could then take a taxi from the airport to wherever we end up staying. The plan is to have a few hours in the afternoon for some light sightseeing, and a relaxing dinner before our flight in the morning. Any suggestions would be welcomed, and thanks again!

Hi Theresa:

There are lots of nice places to stay in the city center in Dublin. I've found pretty good value at the two Best Westerns, both of them within about a block of each other just north of the O'Connell St Bridge. There are certainly more upscale hotels from there.

What I liked about both of those is that they are steps from where the airport shuttles drop off and are the 1st stop coming in and last stop going out (shortest amount of time on the shuttle). I've never been overcrowded in the morning on the bus though I've usually left pretty early.

Hope this helps.

Bill

Theresa,

Many of the airport hotels have free shuttles to and from the airport. From the airport you can get a bus to downtown. What are you looking for? Do you want to be in the city center or near the airport, which is north of the city? What is your price range?

Take a look at my "Lodgings" page for some links to Dublin hotels. I just stayed at Premier Inn at Dublin Airport and was very pleased with it.
