Kilkenny - Cashel

We are debating whether to relocate to Cashel from Kilkenny, or just make it a day trip.  If it is not a long or especially difficult drive, I would like to stay put and not have to pack and unpack.  However, I don't want to feel rushed while visiting Cashel, and hope to visit Caher, too, the same day.

Any advice for me?  I'd appreciate it!
And if we do stay in Cashel -- any recommedations?

Thanks -- Marsha

Marsha,

Cashel is about a 45 minute drive from Kilkenny. You can do it as a day trip and plan a circular route so as not to traverse the same roads twice.

If you decide to relocate to Cashel try the following:

Joy's Rockside (great hosts and location)

The following two are a couple of miles from town:

Ard Ri House
Dualla House (historic sheep farm)

Don't forget to visit the Swiss Cottage in Cahir. It is a fairytale cottage.

I thing a day trip makes more sense. You'll spend more time packing and looking for your B&B than you will driving. Kilkenny always seems like a more interesting town to spend the evening.

Have fun and take lots of pictures.

Marsha,

I like staying put as much as possible too. But some people like to experience new places. What ever you decide to do, have a good time.
