Traditional Irish Music Festivals Northwest Ireland

We are interested in the Kilcar Fleadh (Feile Ceoil Chill Chartha) a music festival, Aug7-14 2009.  The web information that I have found so far is all about the 2008 festival including a detailed schedule of events.  I did find one brief paragraph on donegaldirect.ie about the 2009 festival.   I emailed them for information, but no response.  We would like more information about this festival, or other nearby festivals, from Aug 11-20.  I understand some have been cancelled due to the economic situation.disbelief.gif  Dan Murphy

I was just informed of this link recently. See if it isn't of some help.

Dan,

It may take a few days or even a week for you to get a return reply on your email about the Fleadh. As they draw closer to the festival date, it gets a bit more hectic. The only indicator that here might not be a festival this year does, indeed, lie with the website not being updated.

I receive the Journal of Music weekly updates via email, which advise of all of the music venues occurring across Ireland during a specific month. You might take a look at that, as well.

Though three is a lot to be said for the organized festivals, I still favor the impromptu seissuns you happen across in the pubs.
