Hello. Based on my kids' school vacation schedule, we're considering visiting Ireland either during late March or sometime in August. I've read some of the pros and cons for April vs. the summer months, but wasn't sure: 1) how much March might differ from April in terms of rain, temp., amount of daylight, attractions being open, etc.; and 2) whether attractions and restaurants might be closed during that last week of March since it's Holy Week. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks.
Welcome to my forum. I'm glad you found your way here.
In March/April temps are generally cooler than August. Take a look at my Weather page for average highs and lows and sunrise/sunset times. Rainfall is totally unpredictable even when looking at past averages. But you don't go to Ireland for a suntan.
Easter is at the beginning of April this year. Good Friday is the day when many things are closed including a lot of restaurants and all pubs.
I think if it were my choice I would choose mid-August.
