Dublin for a day/Drogheda

Thanks so much for all the help you've given so far! I'm so glad I came across this site...

My husband and I are planning on staying in Drogheda the first night after we fly into Dublin and checking out New Grange etc.  Then we would like to spend a day in Dublin (Trinity College, Guinness Brewery, and possibly the National Museum).  We're renting a car, but we're thinking it would be easier to maybe take a bus throughout Dublin.  We live in a small town anyway and aren't big on driving in cities (especially on the other side of the road!).  Do you know where to get information on this?  Or how the bus systems work over there?  Or maybe it would be okay to drive in Dublin (although sources I've found so far say not to).   After that, we're heading south.

Also, any good recommendations of where to stay in Drogheda or nearby (that are relatively inexpensive?)?

Thanks ever so much!

joan

If you like B&B experiences, try The Waterside there. It is top notch, great location, and a tremendous place.

Joan,

The two top-notch B&Bs that I used to list for Drogheda have retired. Unfortunately I have not been able to replace them yet. Every time I stop by to visit B&Bs in the area no one is at home! However, The D Hotel is good and has some very good rates presently.

Monty has given you a recommendation. I have had that one bookmarked to look at. Termonfeckin is a small place north of Drogheda near the sea. There is a very good restaurant there called Triple House.

Joan,

I haven't been to this one but it looks promising Waterside in Donabate. That is south of Drogheda on the coast.
