Hi Michele and friends, My mom and I are heading to Ireland in October. The last four nights will be spent in Dublin. We bought a package (which I've posted on here) and learned I booked us at a Zombie hotel. It's the Burlington and the reviews are so mixed, with more negatives than positives. Despite the bad reviews, we want to be closer to the "action".
Mom wants to be able to get up early and walk around (as I sleep in). And, at night we want to be able to quickly (safely) and easily walk back to our hotel from having a pint or whatever.
I looked at the Temple area and that looks fun (we can deal with noise). I also remember the Jurys Inn from our last trip, but don't remember it's location except for it's across the street from a very important and nice big church! :)
Can you please provide some recommendations for two - three star hotels (four stars are fine but I think The Clarence will be out of our budget). I looked at Temple Bar and it would cost us each $250 for four nights...any input would be appreciated...
Thank you,.
Maggie

We booked at Mont Clare for an amazing rate!!! Thank you so much for your (once again) knowledge and sound advice!!!
I will be writing to the Ireland shop to alert them of my dissatisfaction over them selling the Burlington as a four star hotel when it's not (based on my research).
I did call them to let them know I was unhappy with The Burlington and the women was shocked I was going from a four star hotel to a three star...I told her I was very pleased with my decision.
A lot of hotels are being supported by the bank bailout system and are selling rooms at cost just to keep ticking over until someone buys them as a going concern (sometime never) so this is having the effect of bringing prices down to an unrealistic level. Great for the tourists but on the hotel industry long term??

Right, and with prices going down so is the service. Fortunately, O'Callaghan's is celebrating 20 years and I was able to get an unbelievable rate! I love the location and trust their brand.
Michele, We are all set! I'm paying our the rest of our trip by the end of the month.
Mercedes at booking for O'Callaghan put a note in the system to upgrade us if possible. (I mentioned my dilemma with being booked at The Burlington). I remember working with her in the past and she's really a great person to work with. :)
