Killarney Area -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Michele I just received your book today and it is so helpful! I can't wait to read more, I will probably be up late tonight! I want to ask you about the Killarney area. Specifically, I think the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula sound great and I am interested in doing both. The only problem is that I have only 2 nights to spend in Killarney. We will be staying overnight in Kinsale on a Monday night, then driving from Kinsale to Killarney on a Tuesday, then spending Tues. & Wed. nights in Killarney, then driving to Galway to spend Thurs. night. Since we only have one FULL day in the Killarney area, do you think it would be possible to see both the Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry, or will we have to choose between the two? I have seen both described as full day trips from Killarney. Thanks in advance for your advice.

RE: Killarney Area
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi amoggio,
Glad to hear the book is proving useful for planning your trip. I'm afraid you're right--you must choose between the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula as day trips. No way should you do both in one day! I suggest getting an early start on Tuesday so that you can get to Killarney early enough to see the attractions there. Then on Wednesday do either Dingle or the ring. If you have had enough of driving, Dero's Tours does bus trips of both peninsulas or you can drive it yourself. Now all you have to do is choose which one to do!
Happy travels,
Michele

RE: Killarney Area
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks Michele. One more thing I wanted to check. Do the Ring of Kerry bus tours leave at a certain time in the morning and return at a certain time, or is it somewhat flexible? I am trying to figure out whether we could get up early and drive from Kinsale to the Killarney area, and do a Ring of Kerry tour, even if slightly abbreviated, that same day. I am just looking for a little more information about how the Ring of Kerry bus tours work. Do you stay with the same group on the same bus the whole time? Or can you get on and off of buses at only the stops you wish to see? Thanks again for your help.

RE: Killarney Area
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello again amoggio,
Glad to help out. Dero's Tours leaves from their office in Main Street, Killarney at 10:30 am every day during the season and returns at approximately 5:15 pm. You stay with the same group all day. It's not like the hop-on hop-off buses in Dublin. For more info and rates: www.derostours.com
