Dubin Microbrewery

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Michele,

I have the latest copy of your book, and I am staying in several of the places that you reccommend during my trip in May. I can't wait!

A friend of mine that owns a microbrewery told me to visit a microbrewery in Dublin, but he couldn't remember the name of it or where it was located (not Guiness). He said they had great beer. Do you know where it is or if they have tours. I am staying at Kilronan while in Dublin and I will not have a car. Will I have to take a taxi to visit the brewery?

Thanks for any information,
Debbie

He was probably talking about the Dublin Brewing Co. in the Smithfield area of Dublin (www.dublinbrewing.com). You can find their four beers throughout town and in some groceries. Their is another one called Ireland Brewing co (I think) that is based in Kildare but ships into Dublin.

Hi Debbie,

I think that Michael's answer may be just what you're looking for. (He is obviously a man that enjoys his Irish brew and is up on what's available in Ireland!) Some others are Porterhouse Brewing Company: www.tasteofireland.com/porterhouse/ and Messrs Maguire: www.messrsmaguire.ie/

I suggest you ask at your accommodation as to exactly how far the microbreweries are from your lodging. You might be able to take a bus and save the cab fare.

Thanks Michael! There are more microbreweries springing up all over Ireland. There was recently an article in "Ireland of the Welcomes" magazine about some of them. I have a friend in Miami who would enjoy nothing better than a brewery tour of Ireland! As for me, if I can get the occasional glass of Smithwicks while in Ireland, I'm a happy camper.

Michele,

Yes I definitely enjoy my brew, I just completed three batches of my own (stout, Triple Hop Ale and a Brown Ale). Although tonight it was a fine Chiante. I guess I have two more breweries to try during my four nights in Dublin later this year. I forgot about that article in the Ireland Of the Welcomes Magazine.

Well I'm off to an other island tomorrow (Puerto Rico), wish it was the auld sod!

Michael,

Have a good trip to Puerto Rico. You'll be in Ireland before you know it! So, you have your own microbrewery going...any tours yet or do you drink it all yourself?

Michele
