Cahir Castle?

Is Cahir Castle worth seeing? How much time do you think it would take to see?

My last trip we went to Blarney and Cashel on our way from Killarney to Dublin and we would also like to see Cahir this time as well.  I am afraid that we cant do all three in one day plus drive to dublin before dark. Is this possible or should I save it for next trip?

Just my two cents, yes it's worth seeing and the Swiss Cottage is right there too...

If you have already done Blarney and Cashel then have a change. Why put it off? Cashel is under the 5year plan of conservation and covered with scaffolding (was there last week) Blarney is a see it and its done (despite having some of the best castle grounds) so take Maggies advice and see Cahir and Swiss cottage.

Do your homework ahead of time, on what you are planning/hoping to see.  Via the internet, etc. learn a bit about Cahir, etc.  'Twill help make your travels more than just a blur.

Cahir Castle is definitely worth seeing. It is one of the few that is fully intact that you can just get out and climb all over.

Agree, Cahir might have been my favorite castle on our recent visit (saw a half dozen castles in total)

Clark,

Cahir Castle is one of my favorites because you can explore on your own, trip on the stairs (they were made that way), poke your nose into all the nooks and crannies and examine the portcullis. The tour is also very good. But you can do both if you like. The tour will tell you all about life in a castle. If you do both the tour and on your own it could take over an hour.

Yes, Cahir Castle is worth seeing. We stopped there while traveling from Cashel to Kinsale.
