14 Day Itinerary


My daughter is studying at the University of Cork for the semester and my wife and I along with 2 adult children will be visiting her in a couple of weeks.  Here is our itinerary:  any comments would be appreciated.  Thanks,  Steve

Oct 15 - Arrive Dublin 7:50am  Pick up car, Dan Dooley

*  Travel to Powerscourt Garden
*  Visit Glendalough
* Overnight in Kilkenny (Rosquil House)

Oct 16 - Kilkenny to Cork

* Travel to Cashel/Rock of Cashel
* Visit Cahir Castle
* On to Cork (Overnight at Issac Apartments)

Oct 17 - Cork
* Low Key Day
* Maybe Old Midleton Distillery

Oct 18 - Cork
* Day trip to Cobh

Oct 19 - Travel to Kinsale
* Best of Kinsale
* Overnight Kinsale (Olde Bakery B&B)

Oct 20 - Travel to Kenmare
* Via Clonakilty/Skibereen/Bantry
* Depending on time Castletowne Beare Penninsula
* Overnight Kenmare (Abbey Court B&B)

Oct 21 - Travel to Dingle
* Muckross House
* Molls Gap
* Ladies View
* Killarney National Park
* Overnight Dingle (Pax House)

Oct 22 - Dingle
* Rest & Relaxation

Oct 23 Dingle
* Slea Head Drive

Oct 24 - Dingle to Doolin
* Ferry at Tarbert
* Killimer/Kilrush to Cliffs of Moher
* Overnight Doolin (Daly's B&B)

Oct 25 - Doolin to Galway
* Travel via The Burren
* Galway
*Overnight Galway (Western Hotel)

Oct 26 - Galway to Dublin
* Drop Off Car
* Overnight Dublin (Times Hostel)

Oct 27th
* Dublin - Various Sites

Oct 28th
* Dublin - Various Sites

Oct 29th
* Fly Back to US

Too ambitious?  Tried to mix short stays with longer stays.  There may be other sites to visit along the way but this is the general itinerary.

Welcome to my forum. I think your itinerary looks fine. I don't think you will have time for the Beara Peninsula. Doing the West Cork drive will probably be plenty.

Thanks for the advice. Wasn't sure about the Beare Penninsula and don't want to rush the drive there as that stretch to Kenmare looks like a very nice but slow drive. Thanks, also book was very helpful.
