Maggie,

You are leaving for Ireland very shortly. I wanted to wish you and your mother a wonderful trip. Have fun. Take lots of photos and notes. Eat sticky toffee pudding everywhere. And just have a fabulous time. Safe journey and have fun.

Maggie,  I'll add my best wishes for a wonderful trip.  Seeing as how we're two weeks behind you, please make sure there is some Guinness and sticky toffee pudding left for us. :).  Can't wait to hear about your experiences.

Hmmm...I'm trying to beat jet-lag...got up at 3:15 this morning...in theory it sounds like a good idea...but who knows...I don't travel enough to test it!!! :) (Plus I'll probably fall asleep soon...)

Maggie,

As long as you are hunting for sticky toffee, you might as well try banafi pie, if you havn't already. We found it one time in 14 days in Ireland the last time we went. I hear it is an Italian dessert that has been made famous in Ireland! Oh, and we found it at an Italian Restaurant. Since it has fresh bananas smothered in a gooey caramel sauce, and whipped topping, it doesn't last long, and most restaurants have it only once or twice a week as a "specialty" item. Have a great trip! Dan

I have only found Banofee in the Magic realm of Kerry. It was a bit over the top for me but everyone else fell in love with it.

Interesting.

We have had no trouble finding Banofee Pie.

In 2009, we did the southern loop: Kilkenny, Kinsale, Kenmare, Dingle, Bunratty. We had Banofee Pie at every stop. In fact, I don't think we had a dinner without it!  Its yummy. Much better than sticky toffee pudding, IMHO.

Don't think you will want for great desserts.

Banoffee is getting harder to find on Irish dessert menus. Jam in Killarney and Kenmare usually have it. But it is really easy to make yourself. Here is my recipie: Banoffee For Breakfast.
