Explore Dingle or Connemara?

Hello all,
My last inquiry made me realize we're trying to do too much in 8 days. If one had to choose between exploring the Dingle area or the Connemara, which would one choose? Also, should we forget the Galway Oyster Fest?? We arrive in Shannon next Friday, 9/26 and fly out of Dublin 10/4. Not enough time!
Michelle, if you could comment this time, I'd surely appreciate it. Many thanks,
Arlene

Hmmm

I was in both places while there and wouldn't have missed either, but you are short on time. It looks like you're going to be in Galway anyway so I would take Dingle off the list. There is a lot to see and do in and around Galway besides the Connemara area so even if you don't attend the oyster festival you can go out to the Aran islands or down to the cliffs and the Burren. All are well worth the trip and just remember that all the places you miss this trip go to the top of the list on your next trip.

Re: Explore Dingle or Connemara?

Hi Arlene,

I would avoid the Galway Oyster Festival because there are too many people and if you don't have your reservations yet it is probably impossible to get them at this late date.

I love both Connemara and Dingle but with only 8 days you will have to choose one over the other. Most people would probably choose Dingle instead but you can always toss a coin if you want!

Sometimes it's like being asked which of your children you love best, isn't it?

Beloved Children

Hi Dude,

You have hit the nail on the head! It is exactly like that. Weather can also make a big difference in the experience too.

How true!

Thanks all for your great advice. WE've decided to do Dingle and stay away from the crowds at Galway. Makes us realize we just have to plan a return trip!:b
