mld Unregistered User (9/14/03 6:11 pm) Reply Trying to figure out a time table for our 1st trip /ireland Hello - We are planning our 1st trip to Ireland -spring 2004. Very excitied!!!
We are having difficultly with a time frame. How much time in each place and what areas would it be best to stay-and for how many nights. We'll be flying into Dublin and out of Shannon, we will have 8 nights in Ireland.
We would like to see what we can, but go on a easy pace. Being able to stop and see something else if we wish.
The places we would like to see are: Glendalough, Avoca, Kilkenny, Waterford, Blarney, Adare, Ring of Kerry,and/or Dingle bay, Cliffs of Moher and possible the Aran Islands / Galway.
How much you can fit into your trip will probably depend on how much time you plan on spending in Dublin. If Dublin is not on your "must see" list then I don't see a problem with what you have outlined. What time of the spring are you going?

trying to figure out a time table for our 1st trip /ireland Hi Michele,
Thank you for reply. We are leaving March 29 and returing home April 6th. Dublin is not on our "must see" list, we decided we wanted to spend more time exploring the countryside for our frist trip.
I'm looking forward to receiving your book- I sent the order in this morning.
With the places we plan to see, do you have any suggestions in which area or areas would be best for a 2 night stay?
Thank you.

My two cents If Dublin is not on your must see list then I would suggest Galway for a two night stay since you mention you want to see the Aran islands and the cliffs. A trip out to Inishmore can take a whole day. Michelle can give you a lot more information on driving times and routes, though, as I did not rent a car. There are a few interesting stops you could make on a drive from Dublin to Galway, but it would depend what time your flight gets in. I think it's about 3-4 hours driving time. One place I would recommend would be Clonmacnoise. It's about halfway between Dublin and Galway.
Re: Trying to figure out a time table for our 1st trip /irel Hi mdl,
Definitely try for 2 night stays in Kilkenny and Killarney. You might also try going south on your first day out of Dublin. The Wicklow Mountains, Glendalough and Avoca are just an hour or two away from Dublin and would make a good first night's stay.
