Health Insurance I'm leaving Monday from BWI to Shannon. My daughter, who lives with me, went to the doctor's today with a sinus infection. She's not going with me to Ireland, but her germs might be. What do I do if I get sick there? Is there something I should do before I leave. Never thought of it before!
Yuck & darn....cover your mouth, please!

sick the funny thing is - there are Chemist shops everywhere. We went into one and told them about my husband's itchy legs and they gave us perscription medication right there---they are VERY helpful. I don't know about hospitization but it sounds like if you need something to combat those germs - they will probably help you get fixed up----and the medication was 1/4 the price it is in the US!
I always travel with a minimum of travel sized things like asprin, Tums, allergy medication, etc. just in case I need it. Otherwise, as stannseniors has so wisely advised, your first stop when ill will probably be the chemists. Tell them what the problem is and they will fix you up with the right medications then and there. If you need a doctor, ask at your lodgings for a recommendation. You can also visit the emergency room of a hospital, if warranted.
As for health insurance, you should check with yours to see if you are covered in Ireland. If not, you can buy travel insurance that will cover any emergencies or illnesses while traveling. But read the fine print because usually pre-existing conditions are not covered.
