what to do after Dublin Michelle, We are going to stay in Dublin for the St. Patrick's Day festivities. We will arrive on the 13 and stay until the 18th, when we will travel somewhere. (We are also considering day trips to Glendalough and Newgrange)
We are flying into Dublin and leaving from Shannon.
Considering that last March we did Mayo, Clare, and Kerry and that in August my son and I did the Southern route, (but my friends did not), do you have any suggestions for sightseeing from the morning of Thursday the 18th, getting us back to Shannon on the 21st?
Oe thought was to drive to Donegal, but I don't know if that is the best idea.
We are open to all thoughts.
Thank you, Michelle, I appreciate any ideas you may have. Pat
Given the short time you have after the Dublin portion of your trip, I think that going all the way to Donegal would be a stretch. You would spend most of your time driving. Have you been to Galway and Connemara? You could easily spend your remaining time there. Another option would be Kilkenny and Cashel.
Since you only have a few days you don't want to go too far out of your way.

after Dublin First, while in Dublin do go to Newgrange if you can, it is a fascinating place, and there are a lot of other things to see on the way. Second, I would agree with Michele about going to Galway given the time you have. If you are driving you can stop at Clonmacnoise along the way, it's about halfway between Dublin and Galway, just off the main road. Galway is a great little town. I spent four nights there and could have spent a lot more time. Check out the Crane pub, on Wednesday evenings they have some of Ireland's better musicians come in to the Listening Room upstairs. You have to pay to get in, but the music is some of the best you will hear. From Galway you can get to the Connemara region, the Aran Islands and the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren area, so there's lots to choose from.

what to do after dublin Thaks for your ideas!
we did do Galway, but we were only there two nights, so I know we didn't do the area justice at all.
we were also thinking Kenmare, and then go up toward Shannon. I am always open to new ideas and thoughts.
The four of us will be meeting soon, and your website will certainly be something I will be showing them and using for ideas. Thanks so much, and Happy New Year! Pat
Kenmare is a good option. There are lots of good sightseeing options from there and it is my favorite small town in Ireland. But I thought perhaps you had done that previously. Have you seen Connemara? I highly recommend it and perhaps staying in Roundstone or Clifden. You have plenty of options.
