I was wondering if someone could give me an accurate time frame of how long, in time, it would take to get from Cork to Dublin. I want to spend a good amount of time in Western Ireland, then stop at Cork for a night and then head to Dublin. I know the speed limits are different, so if someone could give me some inside on this I would really appreciate it.
I assume you are driving from Cork City to Dublin? Provided you can find your way out of Cork without problems, the highways north through Fermoy, Cashel and Portlaoise are good. Portions of the highway require tolls. I will estimate a little over 3 hours. However, approaching Dublin can be a bottleneck and I don't know where your final destination in Dublin is. At rush hours both cities can be gridlocked.
Direct on the N/M8 - M7 without stops would take me getting on for 3 hours. Remember though that I live and drive over here and that anyone who overtakes me is usually well over the speed limit. If you are heading for the Airport add an hour to that to be safe.
