September trip I am just SO longing to go back to Ireland and i'm hoping to covince my husband to go in September...last year we went in October and it was so easy to find B&Bs w/o reservation - just calling a day before. On the other hand, it was a bit chilly and some things were closed. I can handle the weather but want to see all there is to see. How is it in September? Do you need the reservations farther in advance? We will hopefully do more north west sightweeing - didn't even get to Galway last time and really need to see the cliffs of moher again! Thank you again for a wonderful site!!!
I can certainly understand the longing to be in Ireland again. I have it whenever I'm not there. Septmeber is my second favorite month to visit Ireland. Last September the beginning of my trip was very warm with good weather. Naturally, there were a few sprinkles during my trip.
Most attractions are open through mid-September. The earlier in Sept. you go the busier things are. Killarney was especially busy last September. So reservations in very popular places like Dublin, Killarney, Galway, etc. might be a good idea. Also reservations for Friday and Saturday nights are recommended. However, having said that, Sept. can be a good month to wing it. You can always find a B&B if you don't have your heart set on a certain one.
I am looking forward to helping as your Sept. trip approaches. It will be here before you know it.

I also went last Sept. I went to Ireland last Sept. We went around the middle of the month. I agree that is the perfect time to go... the weather was still fairly warm (although there were a few chilly days, but it never did get very cold at all.), all the attractions were still open and they were not at all crowded. We had no trouble at all finding a B and B, but we didn't really have a preference as to which ones we stayed at, so if you do have your heart set on one in particular, I would still try to pre-book. I highly advise September as a great time of year to visit. When I go back, September will be the time of year I will go for sure!

thanks thank you for your replies, nothing is set in stonme right now but i have a lot of time to dream and plan. I am starting to feel out of the loop as far as being able to talk about it like someone who's been there. I never thought i could miss a place so much....i know i'm preaching to the choir--- you all know what i mean.
September Well, don't feel out of the loop! You have already been a great help to me in my planning! I certainly could not even dream of returning so soon if I had not been awarded vouchers.
September was amazing in Ireland. The weather was... well, let me put it this way. We layered sweaters over long sleeve shirts for the morning and evening, only needed our "mac in a sac" for a total of 16 hours max the entire week- just enough rain to give us rainbows. I had an entire year to choose my return trip and picked September again.
We were not crowded anywhere we went. Never had any trouble getting reservations. It may be the perfect month!
