Tahilla Country House

Michelle,

On the forum I have read some good reviews regarding Tahilla Country House but did not see it listed in your book (I believe this property is in Sneem). I was wondering if the 2004 book might have information on this property. Do you know of a web-site that I might be able to get additional information?

Tahilla Cove

dfs, Bill (Wojazz3) has recommended this to me as we are working on a trip to Kenmare in October. It looks wonderful but sadly is a bit out of our price range. I love the idea of a little patio just outside my room!

Tahilla Country House

Allison,

Thanks so much for your help. I don't know if it will fit into our budget either but I want to check it out. It sounds like a wonderful homebase for the Dingle/Kerry area.

Thanks again!

Around Kenmare

Hi dfs,

I haven't yet inspected Tahilla Cove. However, for a unique country house type experience in Kenmare I highly recommend Sallyport House. If that is too expensive The Lodge is extremely nice but a little lower in price. Mylestone B&B is right next door to The Lodge but at B&B prices. The nice thing about all of them is they are just a few minutes walk into Kenmare town.

A place that I inspected last year, Willow Lodge, looked very nice and the hosts were a hoot. I am planning on staying there this year. The Brass Lantern Guesthouse also looked good on inspection.

For a lovely small hotel right in Kenmare I recommend the Lansdowne Arms Hotel.

I suspect that Kenmare would be a good location for seeing sights in dingle as well as ring of kerry. Do you agree? We would like to stay 3 nights in one spot and see as much as possible.

Other recommendations I have heard were to stay in Killarney. What are your thoughts?

Thanks for any input.

Kenmare

Hi dfs,

Kenmare is a good place for seeing much of Kerry and parts of west Cork. However, I think it is a bit of a stretch for visiting Dingle. Drive time there would be at least 2 1/2 hours. Then you have another 2 1/2 hours back to Kenmare. Killarney would be a better place from which to do Dingle as a day trip. Or you could choose to spend a night in Dingle.
