iternary for some aussies

We are looking for some much needed assistance for 2 males and a female. As part of our European holiday we are going to travel to Ireland for nine days. We are travelling to Ireland to experience its fun lifestyle and culture. We are interested in having a few drinks at traditional pubs and listening to good music. Although some say our dancing techniques are questionable. We are not really interested in tourist attractions, more of a fun lively atmosphere to test out our not so tuned in vocal chords.
DAY 1/2: Ariive in Dublin - Spend two nights. Meeting the locals and checking out the city - Guiness Brewery etc.
DAY 3 - Rent car and drive to Kilkenny or Waterford for the night. Not sure which one to travel to. Any suggestions.

DAY 4: Drive towards Killarney or Dingle for the night. Pass by the Blarney Stone. Not staying in Cork as we haven't heard anything good about it. We've heard that Dingle has a great country town atmosphere with good traditional pubs.

DAY 5: Head towards Shannon or Limerick. Once again not sure which place to stay. Should we drive the ring of kerry.

DAY 6: We have a spare day. Not sure if we should stay an extra night where we have already been or if we should stay somewhere that we missed.

DAY 7/8/9: Drive to Galway. Visit Cliffs of Moher on the way. We will also do some day trips from Galway.

Any suggestions, ideas or recommendations would be fantastic.
Also, are there any entertainment festivals during mid July in Ireland.

Do you mean busy in a good way or a bad way???

Hi,
As others will respond, it typically means, once your itnerary is in place, you'll need to at least get your B&B reservations ASAP.
Ireland is wonderfull any time of the year.

Extend your time in Dingle if you go. We had a lot of fun in their pubs!

Hi jman027,

Your itinerary needs a bit of fine-tuning. It starts out good and I would recommend Kilkenny for a stop after Dublin. It is a great town with lots of interesting pubs and culture. I think that pushing on to Dingle from there is much too far for the day. As for Cork, the city is not of great interest. You would be best off making a stop in either Kenmare or Killarney. Actually you might skip Limerick and that will give you a night in Kenmare/Killarney and two days in Dingle (or vice versa). Then drive from Dingle to Galway. You can take the ferry across the Shannon since you will be visiting the Cliffs of Moher.

From what I see, you will not have time for the Ring of Kerry unless you stay two days in Kenmare/Killarney and one in Dingle. I realize that Australia is a huge country and you are probably used to driving vast distances but Ireland is a bit different. You must plan on averaging around 35 mph.

I agree with Gary that once you have your itinerary firmed up it is an excellent idea to make reservations. July is the peak season and will be jumping with tourists. Also, the places you want to stay are extremely popular.
