marriage regulations

I am from the United Staes and had considered Ireland as a honeymoon..

However, I find the idea of getting married there even more appealing. I'm certain that marriages in other countries are legally binding in the U.S. but would bring a resident of that country be a requirement.

Also, what regulations would have to be met to be married in Ireland..., i.e., marriage license, waiting period, blood test, etc.,

Thanks for any information before I even brgin to plan for such a thing I'd like to know if it's even possible.

Marriage in Ireland

Khanfused,

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! There are many rules and regulations for getting married in Ireland. See the following government website for all the info you need to make an informed decision: www.groireland.ie/getting_married.htm

It is possible for US citizens to marry in Ireland but you may not have the time to comply with all the residency requirements. In that case, Ireland is a lovely place for a honeymoon.

If I can help in any other way, just post again.

Michele
