Hi
Wanting to suprise my wife to stay in an Irish castle for a couple nights in May for her 50th birthday. (Shes a young 50!!)Any suggestions as to where?Want the 'real' castle feel. Prefer intimate rather than grand but willing to listen to any suggestions.Have looked at Waterford and Ballyseede.Would love any advice

If it were my Fiftieth, I would be blown away with two nights at the Waterford Castle. I just read in my email that they are offering a great two night special, which might work out well for you.

Slan Beo,

Tim,

I like Waterford Castle too. If you want something on a much smaller scale look at Smarmore Castle. They are offering a discount to my readers: Hot Deals.

Gee, I spent my 50th in a B&B in Roundstone. Dinner at O'Dowds.

Roy,

Drop the hint to your wife that you want to celebrate your 60th in an Irish castle with dinner, spa the works. Kilronan Castle would be perfect for that!

I have a few years to go to my 60th so maybe I'll set out a coin jar for my wife to start saving! Kilronan Castle looks like a wonderful place.

Roy,

Start saving now! Actually Kilronan Castle has some very good deals and specials and is not as expensive as many of the other castle hotels. It is extremely nice. I had a huge suite with 4-poster bed that was magnificent. However, I looked at the regular rooms and they were equally as nice, just smaller. The food in the restaurant was very good. It has a luxury spa and a beautiful estate. I would highly recommend it as a special treat.
