Husband and family moving to Ireland for School

My husband is a current student at a school in the US where he is studying nursing. He'll finish up with his bachelors degree within the next 2 years. He/We would like to travel to Ireland and go for his Masters in Nursing at UCC in Cork. I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old and would really like some advice on perhaps the best way to do this. We would like to rent a house during our stay there for the 2-3 years or so, so that family can stay with us when they visit. I would like to be able to stay at home with the kids rather than using child care, but we don't know what our options would be at that point.

Any advice is welcome.

Christina

Christina,

Welcome to my forum. You will have a lot of homework to do before you and your family move to Ireland. Some other resources:

I am sure that the university will supply you with lots of free info if you ask them.

Thank you for your responses. I found the one website of movetoireland.com very informative, and I have yet to look at the other websites. Yes, I know I have a lot of homework, which is why I am starting now, even though the move may not be for another 2-3 years. My husband visited Ireland back in 2003, right before we met, and has been itching to go back since. I did email the University yesterday, but have yet to receive a response. I'm sure they are busy, so I'll be looking for a response in the next week or so. Thank you again for all your help.

My partner was a Theatre Axillary for 23 years in the UK and one contributing factor in our location was to be within driving distance of the 5 new state of the art Operating Theatres at Portunclia Hospital. Whilst I had urgent need of these facilities within a few months of us moving over the HSE job freeze has resulted in Christina sitting at home with nothing to do for the past 3 years. On the plus side Irish children's education is superior to UK education but I can't comment about its comparison to the USA higher level. There will be no problems finding accommodation and education but along with a really good standard of living we also have a fairly high cost of living.
