Spraoi Festival in Waterford?

Hi,

I happened across this forum while researching / planning a family trip to Ireland for 2012 (we are going to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday), and let me just say I'm so glad I found it! The site and forums are a HUGE help! 

My question (for now, I'm sure I will have many! lol) is I ran across a site for the Spraoi festival in Waterford that is held over the August Bank Holiday w/end and if I rearrange the order of our trip itinerary, we should be able to be in Waterford during the festival. Has anyone ever been to it? It looks like a pretty cool festival, is it worth rearranging our itinerary to be there for it?? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Mel,

Welcome to my forum. I've not been to the festival because I tend to travel in shoulder season or off season so I don't have to compete with so many other tourists.

Before changing your whole trip I think you should send some emails to accommodations in the area. See if anything is available for the festival. They could be booked up already. If you can find a decent place to stay grab it. Then re-arrange your itinerary.
