The Garden Of Remembrance in Kinsale

I recently became a member after years of being a"lurker."  After I posted my itinerary and receiving several responses, I read my travel diary from our first trip to Ireland in 2006.  We spent 3 days in Kinsale, deliberately so, due to the dates.  I found a very special place that I wanted to visit called The Garden of Remembrance.  It is a beautiful place dedicated to the firemen of New York who died on 9/11.  There was a tree planted for every fireman who died that day, every tree had a tag on it with a name, many had photos and other personal items.  We arrived at the time the first plane hit, and left after the towers would have fallen, on the 5th anniversary.  This was such a moving place and I hope it is still cared for.  I would like to suggest to anyone who will be in Kinsale in September, please visit.  It is free, and lovely.

Kathryn,

Thanks for sharing that with us. Here is a link: http://kinsale.ie/ringfinnan-garden-of-remembrance/ It has directions on how to find the garden.

I was in Ireland on 9-11-01. A day none of us will ever forget. And I will never forget how wonderful the Irish people were.

Michele
