A Yank in Ireland Remembers September 11, 2011

On the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the USA I wanted to share an article with you that I wrote about my experiences on that day. I was in Ireland and saw things from a very different perspective than most of you did.

To read the article go to my Blog. Comments about your own experiences are very welcome.

Michele:

We were over there with another couple just a few days after 9-11 and had a similar experience.  When people would find out we were American, many came up and gave us a hug and told us they were thinking of our country at this terrible moment.

Certainly was remarkable the way the Irish reacted to tourists at that time.

Thanks for sharing,

Monty

I appreciate your comments. A very difficult experience for Americans everywhere.

Very nice Michele. Thanks for that different angle on an event that we will all remeber for the rest of our lives. I remember watching the news the next day and at the changing of the guard in London, the band played The Star Spangled Banner. I don't know why but that struck me as a beautiful thing. Just something I remember.

Thanks Bill. It was such a shocking event that came out of the blue. And it was interesting to see how the rest of the world reacted too.
