Fanfriggentastic trip!

We had a wonderful trip to Ireland. We arrived on Sept 2nd and left on Sept.9th.

We stayed the 1st night in Cashel at Duella house. Although outside of town I fell in love with the pictures on the internet and your description in your book. It was the most beautiful place we stayed at. Antiques rule! We stayed 3 nights next at Arthur's lodge wood in Kenmare, then 2 nights at Cullinan's in Doolin. (shoulda' seen my husbands face when we arrived in the thriving metropolis of Doolin!) The last night we stayed at the Carnigue court hotel in Swords near the Dublin Airport. Gotta say, Arriving into Dublin it took 1 hour waiting in line at customs and 1 hour waiting in line at Dooley's car rental. Many people were complaining and very angry waiting so long at the car rental. Driving the main roads were a piece of cake. The roundabouts took some getting used too. Driving the rural roads in the Beara Penninsula and outside of Doolin were crazy! The speed limits are insane and the roads are very bendy and narrow. Sadly we lost part of our left side mirror between Loosdinvarna and Balleyvaghn! Since the mirror was already damaged ( as well as the left side of the car very scratched up) when we rented the car we decided not to point out the new alteration to the car. We'll see what happens! We loved every second of every minute and I can't wait to go back. You are correct about not tring to see to large of an area. We were able to get out of the car all of the time and go 'splorin' constantly. So many beatiful sight sights. The weather was ok the first two days and then 3 days of very rainy and windy gusts. But what the heck, It did not stop or slow us down at all.

Leaving the country took a lot lot longer than we anticipated. So close to 911 the security for people going back to the US was very strict. We had our carry-on opened and looked through seperate after going through the scan and metal detectors, and then all Us flight passengers went through a completely different scan and check  seperately downstairs. This took about 1 1/2 hours total waiting in line.

My body clock is still on Ireland time. I had no trouble adjusting when I got to Ireland but can't seem to change back. I'll just have to move there!

Thank you so much for your itinerary assistance and your wonderful book. I had so many flags on your book pages too! Read it cover to cover and really helped cut down our traveling time.

Bruce & Leslie,

Welcome back. I am delighted to hear you had a great trip to Ireland. Hope you got to see the sheep at Dualla House. They are not antiques! Did you have tea and scones in front of the fire?

That was quite a long time in line for customs on arrival. For the car too. I guess all the planes arrived at the same time. I get a kick out of those speed limits too. Just remember that you don't have to do the speed limit.

I was happy to help with your trip. Hope you get to return again some day.

yawnWe arrived in Cashel at 5:15pm Ireland time after arriving in Dublin at 8:30 that morning. We wandered like zombies around the town of Cashel ,ate dinner at a Pub, then fell into bed at Dualla House at 7:30pm. That bed was so comfortable! (I forgot to ask if if was a feather bed). Sure felt like it. So although we missed the scones by the fire the breakfast the next morning was fabulous. Full Irish beakfast with "black pudding" I think it is sausage?

We did see the sheep, and lots of very healthy bunny rabbits hopping around the yard. Nibbling on forbidden flowers too!

Next trip we will spend more time in that lovely area. Totally smitten with Island!

Leslie

Leslie,

If you get to return to Ireland again maybe you can stay at Dualla House once more and arrive early enough to enjoy the experience.

Black pudding is a form of blood sausage. White pudding is minus the blood. I skip those "puddings" and go for sticky toffee pudding for a dessert instead.
