What items are included for VAT refund in Ireland? Mainly goods (purchases at a store) or are the VAT costs added to hotel rooms, rental cars, restaurants, etc. included?
What experiences have others had with the VAT refund process? Thanks!
Really thought there was some good information here:
Just think of it this way: if you can actually take it out of the country and back home with you, then you need to see if you can claim the refund. Things like car rental, meals, rooms, etc. are not part of that plan.

Thanks, Bert. That was what I thought from traveling in other countries. I saw something on an Ireland hotel website about offering VAT refunds, however that might have referred to the service of VAT refunds, not the VAT included in the hotel rate. Got it, refunds on stuff (goods that we buy).
You need to either get VAT forms as you shop or a card you swipe (depends on the store). As Bert said, items you purchase and take back home will have the VAT deducted. Things you "consume" in Ireland (food, petrol, car, lodgings) you cannot get VAT back on.
