First Trip To Ireland!!!

First trip to Ireland!  We are new members and purchased Michaels book and a Michelin map.  We will be in Ireland for 21 days (April 19-May 10, 2012)  We will fly into Shannon and stay two days with reservations.  We will pick up a car there and return it there when we leave for home.  We intend to stay on a line south of Dublin to the east, and Limerick to the west.  At this time of year are reservations at B and Bs required?  We like the idea that if we find a place we like to explore, we like to be flexible on how long we stay there.  We dont like to have a scheduled itinerary that is set in stone. We were in Ireland last year from May 19 into June and we could have found a place to stay anywhere we went. But I prefer to know where I'm going to lay my head at night so we made reservation ahead of time. Unless there is some event or holiday to where your going to be I don't think you will have a problem.

Welcome to my forum. You can see a good portion of Ireland in 21 days. Sounds like a fun trip. The first Monday in May is a Bank Holiday. That means Friday to Sunday are nights to have reservations if you are going to a popular place. You may want to reserve your last night too. Otherwise you should be find winging it.
