Hello Michele, I'm going to Ireland in April. I'm planning on spending most of my time in the Southwest. I've heard that Waterville is a nice town although I don't golf. Any thoughts on this town or any other places in this region? Thanks much, Florida Bruce
Nice to hear you from you again. Waterville is fine. It is very small, as are most of the towns on the Ring of Kerry. Most people just pass through this area but there are many rewards to spending more time there. The Skellig Ring on the very tip of the ROK is beautiful. You might also want a trip to Skellig Michael. Valentia Island is worth a look. Some other towns that may be good to stay at are Cahirciveen and Glenbeigh. If you are into beaches there are plenty of them. Some of my favorites are at Waterville, near Derrynane House, Parknasilla, St. Finian's Bay & Rossbeigh. I love to do the beach walks.
