Sheepherding - Suggestions on where we can go to view dogs working sheep

We will be in Ireland in the late fall, Sept-Oct, and going throughout the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.  We have border collies and are interested in seeing a sheepherding event or working farm.  any suggestions?

thaks

Hi and welcome, without knowing your itinerary pitching one or two of the few places that you can see dogs being worked is a bit like throwing darts at a moving board.

Sorry...for the dogs we are willing to travel.  We are starting in Dublin and working our way across to Galway, then to Kilkarney, Sneem, Kilkenny, Glendalough, Wicklow and ending back in Dublin for a few days before heading up to Northern Ireland to Belfast for a few days with day trips to Causeway Coast and Downpatrick.  Hope this helps.

thanks in advance

Shifter,

Welcome to my forum. Here are some resources for you:

http://www.caitins.com/sheep_dog_trials.php

http://www.kissanesheepfarm.com/

At the time of year you are traveling, I would contact any of them in advance to inquire about opening times.

Looks like Michele has it covered I might just add the Kells centre also down in Kerry.  The International comp up in the North is at the begining of September,

Thanks Tony. I was looking for that one and for some reason couldn't find the website. You're a gem!
