My Final Itinerary for Ireland Trip 4/7/12-4/15/12

Hi everyone!

Well, I think we have made our final itinerary for our Ireland trip. Well, I say final. I have open ears for more advice and tips. It's hard to believe that we actually leave in 10 days!  Well, here's the itinerary!

4/7 Day One- Begin our adventure by traveling from Little Rock to Atlanta,

then from Atlanta to DUBLIN, IRELAND!

4/8 Day Two- Arrive in Dublin, hopefully around 10:00am.  Get luggage

and rental car, then head to Avoca. Check in at the Ashton

Guest House. Spend rest of the day exploring Avoca and

                      relaxing after flight.

4/9 Day Three- Go to Powerscourt Estate. After that, drive a scenic drive

through Enniskerry, Glencree, Sally Gap, and Lough Tay.

4/10 Day Four- Go to Glendalough. Maybe do one of the small hiikes.

Then another scenic drive, Glendalough, Wicklow Gap,

Hollywood, or maybe drive through Glenmalure, or both if

                          possible.

4/11 Day Five-  Drive to Co. Wexford. Go to Johnstown Castle and Estate

and Irish Agricultural Museum. Check in at O'Leary's Farm

                          Bed and Breakfast.

4/12 Day Six- Go to Hook Head Lighthouse. Maybe Drive the Hook Scenic

                       Drive.

4/13 Day Seven- Drive to Co. Kilkenny. Visit Jerpoint Abbey. Check in at

Oldtown Farmhouse. Drive to Kilkenny City and check

                            out the sites there.

4/14 Day Eight- Drive to Co. Meath. See Trim Castle. Check in at Ash

Ash Cottage Navan Bed and Breakfast.

4/15 Day Nine-  Our adventure ends, we must drive to Dublin Airport and

                          come home.

I would like to thank Michelle, and everyone else who comes to this site for all of your great advice. I am so glad I came across this wonderful site!

Dawn

Dawn,

It sounds like a nice relaxing trip (unlike what most people want to do). You are aware that most of the places you are staying are out in the country and not near much? Also, Navan is a big traffic bottle-neck. Depending on your flight time, you will want to give yourselves extra time to make it to the airport.

Thank you Michelle. Yes, it is a rather relaxed itinerary. We talked about it and decided we would rather not see as much, and enjoy and remember what we do see, rather than rushing from place to place and not enjoying it. Hopefully we will be able to return again and see more.

I know the places we picked to stay are countryish, but we are country people, lol. While I am looking forward to seeing, "Ballykissangel", and all the other things we are going to see, I am most looking forward to our stay at O'Learys Farm. It's right by the sea, and they have cows and sheep. A farm by the sea, that has animails, well, it doesn't take much to excite me. :)

Thank you again for all your advice! I promise when we get back you will hear all about our trip!

Dawn
