Stop while traveling from Dublin to County Meath

A slight detour, but just NE of Navan, is Dunamore Round Tower and ruins of a 16th Century Church -- http://www.megalithicireland.com/Donaghmore%20round%20tower.html

Furhter along on the N3   is Kells Monastic site, which includes a Round Tower, numerous High Crosses and St Columb's House -- a stone oratory, parts of which dates from the 9th Century.   http://xeowulf.home.mindspring.com/Kells.html

Another detour, SW of Virginia, is Loughcrew Megalithic Cemetary, just outside Oldcastle.  http://www.knowth.com/loughcrew.htm

Do you have recommendations for a stop while driving from Dublin to County Meath? We'll be staying at Ross Castle in County Meath for a few days and taking day trips to Newgrange/Hillof Tara, Trim Castle, Galway, and Belfast. However, we would love to make a stop during our drive from Dublin to the castle, but are not sure where to go (if anywhere). Do you have any recommendations?

Welcome to the forum. What you visit will depend on time of year. Not all places are open year round. Here are some suggestions:
