Anyone had recent experience at O'Shea's Ceol Na Habhann . We're trying to base ourselves between Kenmare and Killarney in October and this looked like a good choice. Here's our list of hope fors, if possible: 40-45 eruos per person ,not a lot of stairs to climb, on a quieter street, onsite parking, and free WiFi. Our first choices of Forgefield's House and Arthur's Wood Lodge were closed for the season during our stay and our third choice of Two Mile Lodge was already booked. We liked Sea Shore Farms but wasn't sure of this as a good base and we also tried to e-mail the Lodge, but couldn't get a response. We'll be coming from around Cahir and are wanting to see both Kenmare and Killarney before heading to Dingle our next stop. We have a couple of places we could contact as last minute possibilities if we can't find something else but, they required a 3-7 day cancellation with a credit card guarantee . Thanks in advance.
It is better to choose either Kenmare or Killarney rather than be in the boonies where you have to drive 10 miles to get to a restaurant. The Lodge rarely responds to emails. Why? I don't know. Sallyport House, Brook Lane Hotel, Old Church House would be contenders in Kenmare.
Sounds like tourism is way down in Kenmare if places are already closing for the season. The recession has hit Ireland hard.
The weather has hit Ireland Hard until this last week and many smaller B&B's close when the schools go back. I would agree with Michele no point at all being back of beyond either of the main towns would be first choice. Killarney is a great place loads of accommodation and will not be busy in October.
