I would like to call upon the good offices of the many participants in this forum.
We will be staying, (my wife, 13 year old daughter, and I) as I see it now, three nights in Dublin, two nights in Dungarvan, County Waterford, 2 nights in the vicinity of Kilarney, 2 nights in Galway and 2 nights in Doolin.
Please take a moment and tell me what, if you were we, you would not miss in or near any of these places, if this were your one and only trip to Ireland. We have a good sense of what we want to do in Dublin already (though your comments are most welcome). It is the other stopping places I am most interested in your thoughts about.
I will start the ball rolling and give some of my favorites. Everyone else feel free to jump in with yours because we all know that everyone has different tastes.
Dublin: Kilmainham Gaol, the various museums, the various cathedrals, Book of Kells & Trinity, St. Stephen's Green, Phoenix Park
Dungarvan: Coastal Drive, Vee Drive, Cahir Castle, Swiss Cottage, Queenstown Story (Cobh), Ardmore, Kinsale
Killarney: Gap of Dunloe, Muckross House, Gardens & Trad Farms, Ross Castle, Cherry Tree Walk, Aghadoe, Dingle, Ring of Kerry, Skelllig Ring, Kenmare
Galway: Connemara, Roundstone & Dog's Bay, Kylemore Abbey, Sky Drive
Doolin: Cliffs of Moher, Loop Head, Burren, Coole Park, Kilmacduagh, banquet at Dunguaire Castle
Be patient. I think a lot of people are really busy right now preparing for the holidays. Once the festivities are over thoughts always turn back to Ireland again here on the forum.
