Planning for August 2013

We are on the verge of putting togehter our plan for our upcoming trip. We will be going in August. Our group will be between 3-6 adults. We are going in August because we would like to visit the Military Tattoo. We plan on about one week in Souther Ireland and one week in Scottland.

Someone had suggested a Brendan vaction. I dont know very much about Brendan. Would it be worth it to go with a company like that. Or, do we plan our own vacation? I feel I am capable of making these arangments if necessary.

Thanks

Two countries in two weeks is a push but possible.  I would not go with an organised tour in Ireland especially not of the Brendan or CIE variety spending the best part of each day pollishing the bus seat.

How you do this will depend on your interests in each country but you might want to read through some plans one fellow member has for this month, http://ireland.activeboard.com/t48979250/northern-ireland-scotland-oct-2012/  (Flights between Edinburgh and Knock would be direct in August)

I used Brendan years ago (1996) for my first trip to Ireland/England. It was nice to have them arrange the flights and such, but the voucher system is no longer as popular as it once was. If you like doing some research, it's not difficult to do on your own, and you'd likely save some cash.

Explore all the possibilities. Crunch the numbers for both Brendan, CIE Tours and others versus doing it on your own. My article Plan Your Trip to Ireland in 10 Easy Steps may be of help.

I took a CIE tour and enjoyed it. I'm also incorporating another CIE tour into my next trip to Ireland in March. Total trip is 16 nights and four will be with CIE. It's nice to turn the brain off and have everything planned out for you... :)
