We are planning on doing some research at PRONI and I'm trying to figure out the best place to stay (probably 2 nights). We will have a car and it seems parking is a problem. The hotel that is closest to PRONI apparently doesn't guarantee your parking. I was looking at Tara Lodge, which has free parking, but wondering how to get over to PRONI from there. Would it cost less still to pay for parking during the day or maybe just take a cab?
I'm wondering how safe that area is at night or what walking around there would be like.
Another option is to stay further out and take the train in.
Premier Inn Titanic Quarter is walking distance to PRONI. They have pay per day car parking. I just stayed there last autumn and would recommend it. It is also walking distance to the new Titanic Experience.
As above, There is really no reason to stay outside Belfast despite the small compact area where idiots will find any reason to cause mayhem, Belfast is now a safe city on global scale even Western Europe scale and The Public Records office in the Titanic Quarter is well out of the daft area.

The last time I had the chance to visit PRONI, I stayed at Ten Square. They have a pay to park car park at a rate of 12£ per day there. It is close to PRONI.
As Tony said, Belfast really isn't any worse than any other large cosmopolitan area. THere are pockets of trouble but I have walked all over Belfast...in teh wee hours and the waning hours...broaddaylight and nightfall....by myself, as a single women traveler...without too much concern
Sorry for the delay in replying. If you're staying at Tara Lodge, the easiest way to get to PRONI is to take a train from Botanic station (about 5 mins walk away from TL) and get off at Titanic Quarter halt (2 stops along the line) - from there it's about a 10 minute walk to PRONI. Note that if there is a larger group of you, it may work out cheaper to just get a taxi (or to drive and park in one of the car parks in the TQ).
If you're getting the train, make sure you get one going to Bangor, as then you won't have to change trains at Central Station.
