Renewal vows in 2014

Hi!  biggrin  I first wanted to say how happy I am to have googled my way on to this website!  It is so helpful!

My husband and I are planning our first trip to Ireland in Nov of 2014 for our 20th anniversary.  While there, it is my dream to renew our vows.  This would not be a large event with catering, etc.  I would like a nice, quaint older church with only myself, my husband and the priest (we are Catholic).  Would anyone have suggestions of where this might be possible andadvanced notice required?  Also, would anyone know if the church would require paperwork like our original marriage certificate or baptismal records?  Anyone know where I could get this information?

Thank you all for your help.  I have learned so much just from reading a few posts here.  I am sure this wont be my last question smile

As Michele as often mentioned and I agree, Gougane Barra would be an idea place for a wedding or renewal of wedding vows in Ireland.

Gougane Barra has a small church in a beautiful location in Co. Cork founded by St. Finbarr. There is a hotel on the grounds which you could contact.

The church is in the Diocese of Cork and Ross and the contact priest is Rev. Martin O'Driscoll. He would be able to tell you if any paperwork is needed for the renewal of vows.

To view the church inside and out there is a wedding video on you tube which will give you an idea of Gougane Barra.

Another contact for St. Finbarr's is Colette O'Leary who I think may be the sacristan for the Oratory.
