Wicklow National Park- Drive Through or not?

Hey everyone!  My travel buddy Sheila and I are planning our 2nd trip to the lovley Ireland in May of 2014!  We are going to pretty much dpo eveything we did this last May.  We took off driving and did whatever we wanted, and we saw ALOT of things!  We enjoyed ourselves, especially since neither one of us wanted to do touristy things.  Anyhow.....I was beinging to make out our "sort of itinerary" for the trip.  We are doing 10 days again.  Last year, we went to Doughal, Cork, Killarney, Killkenny, Cashel, Tralee, Galway Salthill, Sligo, Dublin.  We want to do our next trip the same way, pretty much enjoying the scenery and taking lots of pictures!  The first place I want to go is The Wicklow Mountains National Park.  I was looking at the map, and there is aroad that goes through it, Old MIlitary Road, can you drive on this road?  I want to drive through there and stay at our lovley B and B Tir Na Nog with Tommy and Joan Maloney for a couple 2 or 3 days before moving on.  So, suggestions please, and by the way, we are going to be spending 3 days in the south, then heading north.  We didnt get to Giants Causway country or any of the areas in the Northeast.

You can drive the Military Road through the Wicklow mountains. It is rather windswept and bleak. Are you heading from Cashel to Northern Ireland?
