so was wondering why i hadn't received any emails back from certain places....their broadband that is via switzerland is out and they hope to get it back by monday (was told by the rusheen lodge).
the rusheen lodge host was very helpful....there are no taxis in the ballyvaughn area, except for one woman you can call who accepts only preplanned trips and that's "if she's available." there is a large area to park your car in the town's center, but that means drinking and driving if not staying right in town.....really want to stay at rusheen....really thought the host was nice (is it dangerous to walk at night?), but i am now thinking that the hylands, so we won't have to drive. their rates are way high on their website, but on priceline.com i got a rate of $158, $183, or $195/night all cheaper by over $100- on their website. what do you think of the hylands? have you heard of people going thru priceline.com? would really like to know what you think. tried to call them and found that they are closed until feb. 1st, but will call about reservations m-f 9-5.
spoke w/ the alpine guesthouse and they have rooms and so does the emlagh lodge (2005 guesthouse of the year award). out of these 3 what do you like best?
I just booked a night at Emlaugh Lodge and Maggie was very friendly. She was very quick with her replies and very excited to have a newlywed couple stay with her. She reserved her best room for us!
ps...she says thanks to Michele for her recommendation in the book...quick pick.
I'm glad to hear you will be staying at Emlagh Lodge. Great views from there and a quick walk into town.
Debbie,
Thanks for the heads up on the email situation. Bambury's is okay but I was not greatly impressed. It has been a few years since I stopped by (they still had smoking then) and I thought that it was a bit smoky inside. Of course there is no smoking in Ireland now so that does not apply. Have you tried Benner's Hotel and the Skellig Hotel?
