I just booked our flights for our 5th trip to Ireland 9/10-9/26. Now comes the real fun - booking the rental car, booking lodgings, and planning where to visit! Oy vey...my head is spinning!
Glendalough would make for a LONG day trip. As Tony said, direct drive time would be 6+ hours, round trip. If you haven't been, or are 'jonesing' for a revisit, there is SO much more to see in the area that it would be worth an over-night. What are your plans for the whole trip? I see you are talking 2 nights in Dingle and then Ivy Bridge -- how long there?
You are flying into SNN, but are you returning from there, or from Dublin?
As an aside -- I think you will be DELIGHTED by the Cottage! My wife's Cousins couldn't get over the quality of fit and finish; they couldn't believe that anyone would go to that much trouble for a Holiday Home.
If you get the chance, you should drop down to the Equestrian Center, for a 'Look See'. David is a fascinating individual, with a life story that Epics are made of!

We will be arriving on 9/11 and will head out to Dingle for two nights. Next we will be staying one week at Ivy Bridge and then one week that we're not totally sure of - flying out of SNN on 9/26. We have friends in Galway and will be spending 2-3 nights with them, and will be visiting with Malchy Kearns a day or two out in Roundstone.
Once we firm up days/dates with Malchy and the Clarkes, we will be ready to do some more planning.
Our first trip in 2007 we flew into DUB and out of SNN, but did too much of a "green blur" trip. We know that we want to visit Cork, and the Jameson Distillery, possibly Blarney castle and house, Killarney...not sure what else yet...
