Our health plan changed to a high deductible plan this year, and the deductible for "out of network" is HUGE. So for this year's trip I thought it might be a good idea to purchase travel insurance.
I am looking at insuremytrip.com. There are several different companies to choose from. Has anyone ahd experience - good or bad - with any of them?
Every year, I tell myself that it is probably getting to be time to start buying travel insurance --
And, every year, I seem to 'put it off'. My Health Insurance covers us, in Ireland -- and the 'Out Of Network' price, though high, isn't terrible -- although I expect THAT to change before too long ...
We buy 'cheap seats' which are non-refundable, but at worst, we would only be 'Out' the cost of changing our flight dates. Most of the other reservations are cancelable, so I really don't have TOO large an incentive -- at this point.
I would actually LIKE to learn more about this subject, myself.
Anyone else?

Insure My Trip will give you a list of insurers and plans to look at. It is important to choose a plan that fits your needs. The prices can be all over the place. So the price you pay depends on what you choose. If you only need the medical insurance and not trip cancellation, medical evacuation, repatriation of remains, etc. then you can go with a lower cost plan. I notice that the different plans are rated so look at the reviews. You can also do a Google search to see what is being said about the various companies. I did a trial run and noticed some brand names like John Hanc o c k.
I guess the best advice is to decide what you need, do your homework and read the fine print. You can also call them for more info and advice.
Hopefully you won't have to actually use the insurance in Ireland. But it is good to have just in case.
